Part-Time Evening Cleaner

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM (25 hours per week)

Position Summary

Rutgers Preparatory School is seeking a dependable, motivated, and detail-oriented Part-Time Evening Cleaner to join our Facilities Department. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will take pride in their work, demonstrate reliability, and contribute to the overall appearance of our campus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, stairwells, and common areas.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, and maintain hard surface and carpeted floors.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and replace liners.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces.
• Restock restroom supplies and maintain restroom cleanliness.
• Dust furniture, fixtures, vents, windowsills, and other surfaces.
• Clean interior glass, doors, and entryways.
• Set up or break down rooms for school events as assigned.
• Report maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Safely operate custodial equipment and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with manufacturer and safety guidelines.
• Perform other custodial duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Commercial, educational, or institutional cleaning experience is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleaning standards.
• Excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with supervisors and fellow employees.
• Must successfully pass all required background screenings and fingerprinting.

Physical Requirements

This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Frequently bend, kneel, squat, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Push and pull custodial carts, trash containers, and cleaning equipment.
• Perform repetitive motions involving the hands, arms, and shoulders.
• Work safely around cleaning chemicals and equipment.

This is an active, hands-on custodial position. There are no light-duty or desk work assignments associated with this role. Employees are expected to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
