After School Program Teachers (Part Time)

Rutgers Preparatory School is seeking creative, energetic people who love to work with children for our After School Program. The hours are 2:30-5pm or 3-5pm and the pay rate is $18 to $20 per hour. The work environment is fun and supportive.

ASP staff supervises all of the after school play and activities of children enrolled in the Rutgers Preparatory School. ASP teachers interact and help students while they work on homework, complete a craft, and play games both indoors and outdoors. ASP teachers keep students engaged in intellectual, creative, artistic and physical activities while supervising for safety. Bring your ideas, energy and creativity to have fun with the kids!

Responsibilities include:

• Follow established routines and schedules
• Arrive on time and follow directions and requests from ASP Director
• Supervise, play with, and help individuals or small groups of students ranging from pre-K through middle school
• Participate and assist with arts and craft activities and outdoor play to keep students engaged
• Support students to follow safety rules including re-directing them or helping when conflict resolution is needed
• Communication clearly and cooperatively with all ASP staff members
• Set up and clean up activities as needed

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Be available to arrive on time and ready to go for a shift that is either 2:30-5pm or 3-5pm.
• Have childcare or camp experience
• Have references available
• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum)
• Valid State ID
• Pass background check and other HR paperwork including RPS job application

Hours:

• Two different shifts are available: 2:30 to 5:00pm and 3:00 to 5:00pm M-F

• Some childcare experience is required. Please describe your role and which types of childcare work you have experience with.Please include ages of children you supervised. Significant babysitting/nannying, summer camp, preschool, regular school, or after school program experience is all helpful.
• Some of our positions start at 2:30 and some at 3:00pm. Both shifts require staff to arrive a couple minutes early and get settled and be ready to go at 2:30 or 3pm. Do you have another job or classes that make this not possible, or are these hours something for which you can arrive on time?
