Candidates must be familiar with Athenahealth (Athena) electronic health record software and possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and create a warm, professional, and compassionate environment.
- Place patients first by ensuring they receive exceptional care, timely communication, and a positive healthcare experience.
- Assist providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments while ensuring all clinical protocols are followed.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and other patient information.
- Prepare examination rooms and maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
- Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, injections, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and other duties within the scope of practice.
- Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and assist with prior authorizations and insurance verification.
- Accurately maintain patient records within the Athenahealth electronic medical record system.
- Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up appointments.
- Maintain inventory and ensure that medical supplies and equipment are properly stocked and maintained.
- Support clinic operations and contribute to the development of efficient workflows as the practice continues to grow.
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification.
- Experience working in a primary care setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control procedures, and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Experience using Athenahealth (Athena) is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and administrative staff.
- Comfortable working in a newly established clinic environment where flexibility, initiative, and teamwork are essential.
