We operate five popular cafes in Marin and have a wholesale production division making flatbread crackers, cookies and crisps in Petaluma. SUMMARY

The Cashier is responsible for efficient, fast-paced work in a high-volume Cafe environment. This position requires heavy guest interaction and excellent guest service skills. A positive attitude in all situations is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Warmly welcomes customers, takes orders and rings up sales.
• Assists guests in a friendly manner, providing answers and handling purchases, exchanges, gift cards, and special orders.
• Responds to and resolves customer concerns or complaints.
• Learns the details of menu items and promotes and recommends items to customers.
• Prepares and serves food items such as soups, sandwiches, and pastries, and a variety of hot and cold beverages.
• Prepares and packages To-Go orders.
• Handles cash and credit cards with accuracy. Reconciles all cash and currency.
• Cleans all work areas, guest areas and equipment/tools to maintain a sanitary environment.
• Stocks shelves in a timely manner as product gets low and maintains a neat and orderly appearance.
• Opens and/or closes the Cafe as scheduled.
• Follows all company policies and procedures and works in a safe manner.
• Cross trains and assists in other areas of the café as needed.

SKILLS

• A passion for creating a great customer service experience
• Must be able to work as a supportive team member
• Exceptional communication skills in English
• Ability to process information/merchandise using a POS system
• Ability to learn and operate Cafe equipment (e.g. espresso machine)
• High accuracy rate in completing customer orders and ringing up sales in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment
• Must be available to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

EXPERIENCE

• Customer service experience in a food and beverage establishment or retail setting
• Must provide a Food Handlers Certificate within 30 days of employment
