Education/Experience/Qualifications:
Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, school administrators, central office staff, parents, and community representatives. Must possess the ability to work under pressure and effectively plan, organize and coordinate work independently. Must be adaptable to changing priorities and be able to successfully complete multiple assignments simultaneously.

General Definition of Work:
Under direction of the school principal, plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervise students in a variety of school related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community. Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintain appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:

- Coordinates entire football program including junior varsity program.
- Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
- Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
- Arranges for attendance at summer camp for athletes needing specialized instruction for skill positions.
- Assists athletic director and other coaches in providing for off-season conditioning activities.
- Assists athletic director, school administrators, and teachers in enforcing school rules for student athletes including supervision of student athletes’ academic progress.
- Establishes contacts with college coaches to assist players in applying for athletic and academic scholarships.
- Supervises the cleaning, storage, and care of all appropriate equipment.
- Oversees the safety and physical conditions of the facility and physical condition of playing fields, team buses, and locker rooms.
- Enforces disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by team members and assistant coaches.
- Encourages maximum participation by students in both sports coached by him and other school sports and activities.
- Attends Virginia High School League clinics and workshops as required by principal.
