Heavy Civil and Utilities Construction Superintendent

BRIEF DESCRIPTION FOR JOB POSTINGS:

5-10 years supervisor experience in the heavy commercial/industrial construction industry required. Qualified candidates must have experience in water/sewer utility construction. Other types of heavy civil construction experience are a plus. Supervise, coordinate and schedule crew of 5-15 construction employees daily. Read specifications, such as blueprints to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures. Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment. Record information such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports. Provide assistance to workers engaged in heavy civil construction and utility work activities, using hand tools or other equipment. Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are met.

Primary Responsibilities

• Coordinates and supervises all construction activities.
• Directs all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to assigned plans and specifications.
• Read specifications, such as blueprints to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures.
• Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment.
• Maintains construction schedule, identifies and solves problems.
• Orders materials and schedules inspections as necessary throughout the process.
• Record information such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports.
• Maintains positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
• Prepares, schedules and supervises completion of phases of the project, including a final punch list.
• Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are met.
• Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices and rectifies job site hazards immediately.
• Ensures all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy.
• Maintains an organized job site, including the construction office.
