Full Time Medication Nurse RN in Medical/Surgical
We are looking for a devoted Medication Nurse RN to become part of our vibrant healthcare team. As a Medication Nurse, you will be a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse, responsible for nursing activities and administering medications within the scope of LPN/RN practice under the guidance of a Charge Nurse.
Nursing Responsibilities and Best Practices:
- Conduct initial assessments and gather patient history.
- Develop care and discharge plans, including safety checklists.
- Ensure accurate charting and ongoing assessments.
- Document teaching needs and implement educational plans.
- Evaluate nursing interventions and patient responses.
- Administer medications and IV therapy per policies, considering age-specific effects.
- Respond to emergencies promptly.
- Organize nursing care efficiently with effective time management.
- Assess patient data for age-specific needs (psychosocial, nutritional, etc.).
- Follow pain management guidelines and respect breaks.
- Provide culturally sensitive care to diverse age groups.
- Complete additional assigned duties and address psychosocial needs.
- Adhere to infection control policies and be accountable for physician orders.
- Ensure timely, accurate shift reports and report healthcare errors.
- Maintain professionalism in communication and interactions.
- Participate in hospital improvement initiatives and handle patient concerns professionally.
- Uphold a professional image in grooming and communication.
- Respond positively to feedback and collaborate with others.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical background
- Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced setting
- Proficient in various nursing skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Experience in medical-surgical nursing or related fields such as ICU, emergency medicine, or critical care preferred.
- Proficient in nursing skills including IV insertion, phlebotomy, medication administration, and airway management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and laboratory processes.
- Familiarity with various healthcare settings including hospitals (Level I & II trauma centers), outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and home health environments.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those requiring hospice or palliative care.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients on health issues and treatment plans.

Education
Requires a current nursing license from the Alabama Board of Nursing.
