Key Job Functions
- Answer the telephone promptly in a courteous and professional manner and relay calls accurately and effectively.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
- Strives to accommodate the needs of the physician’s offices and the patient.
- Consistently utilizes correct demographic information when keying into ECW.
- Record evaluations of nursing interventions, including patient responses.
- Maintains a good rapport with hospital staff and physician offices
- Demonstrates strong patient satisfaction skills.
- Demonstrates understanding of retrieving BCBS, Medicare and Medicaid eligibility using on-line services.
- Always maintain patient confidentiality
- Demonstrates ability to use copy machine, fax, telephone and adding machine
- Locate and use department SDS, infection control, fire and emergency manuals.
- Can describe roles/functions of administration, nursing supervisor, security and other departments.
- Knowledge of the correct procedure when misses a punch on the Kronos system.
- Performing other duties assigned by the Director
- Uses time efficiently. Prioritizes work well.
- Attends a minimum of seventy-five percent departmental staff meetings and in-services.
- Reports for scheduled shift on time; prepared to assume duties.
- Reports to work in proper uniform or attire.
- Badges in on arrival and out upon leaving
- Follows policy for reporting sick or absent 100% of the time.
- Leaves for meal break on time and returns on time
- Varies work schedule or shift, (working overtime, leaves early when requested, work shifts other than regularly scheduled as required) to meet department staffing needs.
- Works overtime only with appropriate approval when requested by manager or supervisor approval.
- Schedules for all PTO days with supervisory approval.
- Adheres to hospital and departmental policy and procedure 100% of the time.
- Performs all duties as assigned
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience
Must have computer skills, some medical terminology background, good communication skills with insurance companies and patients regarding billing issues.
Complexity of Duties and Responsibilities
All payment posters must be able to post insurance and personal payments to patient accounts into our system. Work insurance denials and make appropriate corrections to be rebilled. Must work on the ageing reports related to insurance and patient balances. Open mail checks, make deposits.
