Job Title: Head Football Coach
Contract Days: 240
The Coach is directly supervised and evaluated by both the building principal and athletic director.
In order to build and maintain a quality football program, it is imperative that the following 5 characteristics are evident in the candidates for the Head Football Coaching position at Russellville High School
Ability to supervise and evaluate the Coaching Staff 7-12 Grade
Build Capacity in the Staff
Build Positive Relationships with the Staff
Provide Professional Development Opportunities for Staff
Experience establishing a system that promotes consistency and continuity throughout the program
Ensuring Academic and Athletic Success for the Student Athletes
Involvement in Cyclone Peewee Football Program
Ability to Build and Maintain a Culture that grows numbers and maintains a high level of participation
Works well within the overall Athletic Program to promote and ensure opportunities for multi-sport participation
Use group and individual interactions with patrons to build and maintain positive relationships within the Athletic Programs, the District, and the Community
Qualifications of Employment:
A teaching license or plan for obtaining one approved by district
A passion and love for learning and teaching students
Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Resilience and a positive attitude.
Superb interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to establish rapport and build professional relationships with students.

Coaching license and/or AAA Coaching Certification
Program Management
Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all Arkansas Activities Association rules.
Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
Work with athletic director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements
Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program and make changes based on findings.
Student Management
Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports including out-of-town trips.
Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Encourage, by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
Communication
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
Administration
Assist in selection of equipment and instructional materials.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within program.
Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all campus athletic equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district wide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun and heat.
