How You’ll Contribute
As a Payroll Specialist you will help us reach our strategic growth goals by ensuring the company's payroll function runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Process payroll for union employees accurately and on schedule
- Prepare and submit certified payroll for hours worked on applicable projects to ensure compliance
- Review and collect certified payroll from subcontractors on all applicable company projects
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including deductions, benefits, and tax information
- Verify timesheets, work hours, and job classifications for accuracy
- Solve issues concerning payroll, answer inquiries, and enforce payroll policies
- Prepare and submit required payroll documentation to government agencies
- Assist with audits and reports related to payroll and labor compliance
- Keep current with payroll related compliance matters and updated laws and regulations
- Improve current processes and procedures leading to best practices
- Assist with month-end reconciliation of payroll accounts
- Support the payroll manager with administrative tasks and special projects
- High school diploma or GED is a minimum; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business preferred.
- 2 years of payroll experience. Construction industry experience and knowledge of processing union payrolls preferred.
- Processing and reporting for certified payroll, including Davis-Bacon requirements preferred.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local prevailing wage laws and labor regulations.
- Experience with complex multi-state and multi-union payroll requirements is highly valuable.
- Familiarity with payroll software such as UKG Ready and Sage Intaact.
- Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy to ensure correct calculations and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for reporting and data management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees, management and regulatory bodies.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and handle large volumes of data.
- The ability to handle sensitive employee and company financial information with discretion and integrity.
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities to resolve discrepancies and payroll issues efficiently.
