Site Safety Coordinator
Location: Byhalia, MS

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Coordinator to support construction site safety operations for a large-scale project in Byhalia, Mississippi. This role will be responsible for coordinating safety activities among contractors, ensuring compliance with OSHA and project safety requirements, facilitating site safety programs, and promoting a proactive safety culture throughout all phases of construction.
The ideal candidate will have strong construction safety experience, OSHA 1926 knowledge, and the ability to effectively coordinate multiple stakeholders in a dynamic construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Coordination
- Coordinate and oversee safety activities involving multiple contractors working in shared project areas.
- Support implementation and maintenance of site-specific safety plans and project safety requirements.
- Assist with contractor safety prequalification, onboarding, and compliance activities.
- Verify worker qualifications, certifications, and training requirements.
- Support site safety orientations and contractor induction programs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA regulations, project standards, and safety procedures.
Site Safety Management
- Participate in site setup activities, including safety signage, access control, fencing, and site logistics.
- Coordinate contractor safety plans and work activities to mitigate hazards in common work areas.
- Support permit-to-work processes for hazardous activities.
- Promote hazard identification, near-miss reporting, and corrective action programs.
- Maintain a visible field presence to monitor work activities and reinforce safe work practices.
- Ensure safety reporting systems are effectively utilized and documented.
Meetings, Inspections & Reporting
- Conduct and participate in daily safety coordination meetings and toolbox talks.
- Lead weekly site safety coordination meetings with contractors and project teams.
- Perform regular site inspections and safety audits.
- Track corrective actions and verify completion of safety-related findings.
- Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation.
- Prepare and distribute monthly safety performance reports and project safety updates.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with project managers, site leadership, contractors, and subcontractors to address safety concerns.
- Provide guidance and support on construction safety requirements and best practices.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall site safety performance.
Required Qualifications
- OSHA 1926 certification required.
- Experience supporting construction site safety programs.
- Strong understanding of construction safety regulations, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation.
- Experience coordinating multiple contractors and project stakeholders.
- Ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work full-time onsite in a construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Site Safety Coordinator, Safety Specialist, Safety Representative, or similar role.
- Experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, commercial, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects.
- Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and contractor safety management.
- Experience with safety reporting systems, corrective actions, and compliance programs.
- Additional safety certifications are a plus.
