Leave of Absence Specialist
Russell Tobin and Associates is hiring a contract, REMOTE, Leave of Absence Specialist (LOA) for a top educational organization in Minneapolis, MN.
Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume caseload (:120 cases) including FMLA, parental leave, disability, military, and personal leaves
- Administer leave of absence programs in compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies
- Accurately enter and maintain leave data in HR systems (PeopleSoft/HRMS)
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employees, managers, HR, payroll, and third-party administrators throughout the leave lifecycle
- Respond to employee inquiries via phone and email, documenting and managing cases in a CRM system
- Track leave cases from intake through return-to-work, ensuring timely communication and proper documentation
- Audit and review documentation to confirm eligibility and compliance requirements are met
- Coordinate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure accurate employee pay and benefits handling
- Support accommodations and return-to-work processes in partnership with internal stakeholders
- Generate reports and assist in analyzing leave trends and utilization
Requirements
- Experience with leave of absence administration (FMLA and other leave types)
- General HR experience with exposure to employee support and compliance
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritize effectively (FIFO case management)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive/confidential information
Additional Details:
- Remote position. Must be able to come onsite for team meetings once a month.
- Schedule: 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday
- Position Type: contract position approved through the end of the year.
- Salary range approved: $28-31/hr depending on experience
