Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and highly motivated Advanced Manufacturing Technology Engineer to join our Manufacturing Innovation & Transformation (MIT) – Manufacturing Center of Excellence team. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and implement innovative activities aimed at significantly improving manufacturing competitiveness. Reporting to the MIT Manager, you will support objectives to enhance manufacturing processes and capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Design automation machine components and develop control systems.
- Develop PLC programs and embedded software.
- Develop, test, and deploy robotic systems, vision systems, and AI/ML solutions.
- Lead and manage projects from concept to large-scale production launch, including creating schedules, establishing punch lists, and meeting deadlines.
- Develop new technological solutions and validate them in a manufacturing environment.
- Create project proposals, negotiate roles and responsibilities, and gain necessary approvals.
- Develop equipment procurement scopes of work and ensure specifications are met from planning through production.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures to ensure equipment and process safety.
- Present reports and updates to stakeholders, management, and executives.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to keep them informed, engaged, and to resolve issues.
- Document project processes and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Work cross-functionally with different internal teams and organizations.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Mechatronics Engineering, or Robotics Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Proven experience in developing and integrating robotic systems using ROS (Robot Operating System).
- Evidence of successfully deployed machine vision systems.
- Evidence of successfully deployed AI/ML solutions.
- Proven experience in the development of innovative projects within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven project management experience, including writing scopes of work, creating schedules, managing vendors/contractors, and providing status updates.
- Proficiency with computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) engineering software.
- Ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings.
- Proven experience with the installation of manufacturing equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 25%.
- Willingness to work overtime, approximately 20% as required.
- 2 years of experience in the Automotive Industry.
Desired Experience:
- Master's or PhD in a robotics or mechatronics discipline.
- Project Manufacturing experience.
- Proven experience with Job Safety Analysis (JSA/JHA).
- Experience in construction management.
- Experience in an automotive manufacturing plant.
- Project Management certification.
- Proven experience securing funding approval for projects.
- Familiarity with SAE/ISO, NFPA/NEC, and UL standards.
- Proven experience conducting equipment risk assessments.
- Experience integrating a wide range of industrial automation products (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Keyence, Cognex, Fanuc, ABB, Universal Robots, etc.).
- Sales engineering experience.
