Job Title: Product Design Engineer V
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Location: Cupertino, CA 95014
Pay range: $100.00/hr. to $120.00/hr. (DOE)
Work Schedule: Remote (PST) hours.

Key Qualifications:

• High degree of motivation, curiosity, passion and creativity
• Design intelligence: mechanical intuition, creative problem solving, spatial reasoning, attention to detail
• Engineering fundamentals: statics, strength of materials, material science, statistics
• Excellent communication skills written, visual, and verbal. Ability to clearly convey design ideas and contribute to brainstorms
• 3D CAD experience with any program. 2D drafting and GD&T a plus
• Experience in the design cycle from concept through manufacturing a plus
• Experience designing mechanical components for mass production a plus - specifically molded, formed, and machined parts
• 2 yrs of Mechanical Design industry experience

• Candidate will provide design support for iPad products including:

• Using 2D and 3D CAD to communicate design intent, inspection requirements, and test methods
• Developing deep technical knowledge in areas outside your realm of expertise to understand other teams design constraints and craft creative solutions to technical problems
• Collaborating with outside vendors and internal manufacturing experts to optimize designs for function, aesthetic, and manufacturability
• Some of the skills we exercise and develop regularly: tolerance and stress analysis, electro-mechanical integration, design for high volume manufacturability and assembly, prototyping, failure analysis, simple fixture design, metrology, statistical process control

Education: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
