What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overnight Shelter Advocate for Survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence position at Russell House?

Overnight Full Time Shift Available:

Tuesday to Saturday (40 hours)

  • 12:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. (with 30 min. break)
  • $16.00/hour with $1.50 shift differential and $3.00 weekend shift differential

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer crisis calls to ensure that callers have access to domestic violence and/or sexual violence support and advocacy.
  • Conduct initial intake with survivors.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and the safety of residents and the shelter.
  • Help with the daily cleaning and upkeep of the shelter.
  • Transport survivors in the local area with company vehicles
  • May provide additional shift coverage, as needed, including holiday coverage as required.

Skills & Experience

  • High school diploma and related experience.
  • Sensitivity to and acceptance of individual needs and differences.
  • Ability to conduct oneself professionally, particularly in handling confidential information and as a representative of Russell House in the community.
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively as a member of a team to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be computer literate, out-going, creative and resourceful, a self-starter, and professional.
  • Ability to lawfully drive in the state of Missouri.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.50 per hour
