What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overnight Shelter Advocate for Survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence position at Russell House?
Overnight Full Time Shift Available:
Tuesday to Saturday (40 hours)
- 12:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. (with 30 min. break)
- $16.00/hour with $1.50 shift differential and $3.00 weekend shift differential
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer crisis calls to ensure that callers have access to domestic violence and/or sexual violence support and advocacy.
- Conduct initial intake with survivors.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and the safety of residents and the shelter.
- Help with the daily cleaning and upkeep of the shelter.
- Transport survivors in the local area with company vehicles
- May provide additional shift coverage, as needed, including holiday coverage as required.
Skills & Experience
- High school diploma and related experience.
- Sensitivity to and acceptance of individual needs and differences.
- Ability to conduct oneself professionally, particularly in handling confidential information and as a representative of Russell House in the community.
- Ability and willingness to work cooperatively as a member of a team to accomplish goals.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be computer literate, out-going, creative and resourceful, a self-starter, and professional.
- Ability to lawfully drive in the state of Missouri.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
