Brief Description
Construction Project Intern
Construction Management / Engineering Internship
About The Role
Russell is taking applications for 2027 Construction Project Interns now! Join our project teams for hands-on exposure to how commercial construction actually gets built — from preconstruction through closeout. This isn't a shadow-and-observe internship. You'll be paired with a Project Manager or Superintendent, carry real responsibilities, and see your work show up on an actual jobsite.
How You’ll Contribute
What We're Looking For
Russell is a professional services firm providing construction and development services across the Midwest. Since its inception in 1983, Russell’s culture promotes a collaborative work environment that strives to exceed our clients’ expectations and provide life-time career opportunities for our professionals.
Headquartered in Davenport, Iowa, with offices in St. Louis and Springfield, Missouri and Leawood, Kansas, Russell has delivered more than $7 billion in projects across 34 states. We remain a market leader in our core markets, including new construction and complex additions and renovations.
At Russell, we are creating more than a project - we are building great people, relationships, and communities.

How You’ll Contribute
- Support Project Managers with RFIs, submittals, and change orders in Procore
- Assist with scheduling coordination and subcontractor communication
- Participate in jobsite walks, safety meetings and inspections, quality control and progress documentation
- Help track project progress and organize projects files, subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Compile punchlists and close out documentation
- Shadow estimating and preconstruction on active pursuits; gather information for estimates, proposals, drawings and takeoffs
- Direct mentorship from experienced PMs and Superintendents, not a rotation through busywork
- Real project ownership — interns present and play a part in team meetings, not just take notes in them
- A clear path: strong interns get first consideration for full-time PE roles after graduation
- Competitive pay, an excellent collaborative work environment and team that's genuinely invested in your career, not just your summer
What We're Looking For
- Those who are currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Strong communicators who are comfortable asking questions and eager to learn about our exciting and growing industry
- Willingness and ability to work as a collaborative team and make a meaningful contribution
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
