What are the responsibilities and job description for the Smokehouse Prep Cook position at Russell Barbecue?
We're a small but growing, wood-and-coal-fired barbecue restaurant looking for a hard-working, motivated person to join our team. This hands-on role involves preparing meats, working around smokers, and kitchen prep. If you're dependable, eager to learn, and take pride in doing things right, we want to hear from you.
Schedule:
Initial expected schedule (subject to change):
Wednesday 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Thurs-Sat - 4:30 AM - 11:00 AM
Sun - 4:30 AM - 11:00 AM
Responsibilities:
- Trim, grind, and stuff sausages
- Prep raw meats for smoking
- Operate and manage real wood/coal-fired smokers
- Clean smokers/smoke house/work areas
- Wash prep dishes
- Prep Sides and Sauces
- Follow food safety and cleanliness standards
- Lift and carry up to 40 lbs as needed on occasion
Requirements:
- Willingness to learn and work hard
- Friendly and team-oriented attitude
- High attention to detail
- Punctual and reliable
- ServSafe Food Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain it)
- Reliable transportation
- Able to stand for extended periods and work in a hot/smoky environment
