Secondary Teacher (Grades 6–12)

Reports To: Secondary Administrator

Position Overview

The Secondary Teacher (Grades 6–12) is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-based instruction within their assigned subject area while integrating a biblical worldview throughout the curriculum. This role supports the mission and vision of Ruskin Christian School by promoting academic excellence, spiritual growth, and character development in middle and high school students.

The Secondary Teacher serves as both an educator and spiritual mentor, demonstrating Christ-like character in all interactions with students, families, staff, leadership, and community members, and intentionally integrating biblical truth into instruction and classroom culture.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Develop and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in assigned subject area(s)
  • Integrate Scripture and a Christian worldview into daily lessons
  • Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs
  • Utilize instructional technology to enhance learning
  • Maintain accurate and timely grade records

Classroom & Student Development

  • Establish and maintain effective classroom management procedures
  • Foster a respectful, structured, and Christ-centered learning environment
  • Encourage critical thinking and academic growth
  • Assess, monitor, and document student progress regularly
  • Provide timely feedback to students and families

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate professionally and consistently with parents regarding academic performance and concerns
  • Collaborate with colleagues and administration to strengthen curriculum and instruction
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, chapel services, and school events
  • Support extracurricular activities as assigned

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information
  • Uphold school policies, procedures, and academic standards
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional and spiritual growth
  • Model professionalism, integrity, and Christian leadership
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the school community

Qualifications

Required

  • A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the ministry’s Statement of Faith
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or subject-specific field
  • Valid teaching certification (or eligibility for certification) in appropriate grade level/subject area
  • Strong instructional planning and classroom management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience teaching middle and/or high school students
  • Subject-area specialization or advanced degree
  • Coaching or extracurricular leadership experience

Pay: From $42,333.00 per year
