Description The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general maintenance and repair of all Rusk County properties and maintenance of all equipment required for that task. Examples of Duties The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
Other duties may be required and assigned. Maintains and troubleshoots heating and air conditioning units. Performs lawn maintenance for all County buildings and grounds.
Snow removal of sidewalks and entrances to all county buildings including airport runways and fairgrounds. Performs basic electrical and carpentry work including repair of buildings and maintenances of outside structures. Repairs and maintains all plumbing fixtures and drains.
Maintain floors and clean scrub wax. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment. Maintains required repair and operation logs.
Maintains a safe, clean and organized work environment. Conducts inspections of County owned property. Maintains security systems of County owned properties.
Uses the following equipment to perform the essential functions of the job: skid-steer, tractor loaders, backhoe, forklift, dump truck, dozer, grader, commercial lawn equipment, welder, table saw, drills, automatic floor scrubbers, front runner floor machine, high-speed burnisher, carpet extractor, vacuum cleaner, chain saw and any other equipment or tools needed to perform the essential job duties. Typical Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess and maintain a valid Wisconsin driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to work without supervision and to understand and follow standard practices and instructions. Must possess strong communication skills. Ability to keep routine records and use a computer.
Experience and knowledge with commercial lawn care and snow removal equipment, general carpentry, HVAC, electrical and plumbing work desired. One-year experience in a similar facility and minimum of two years' experience performing carpentry and electrical repairs preferred. Supplemental Information Physical Requirements The job entails significant physical demands typically found in heavy industry or construction work, and with significant exposure to workplace hazards.
Very frequent lifting, moving, bending, twisting, etc. required. Work Environment Significant and frequent exposure to uncomfortable physical conditions.
