Summary:
Under the direction of the Manager of Medical Imaging/Cardiology and Medical Director of Cardiology, with limited supervision and broad general directions, performs duties of supervision within the department and is responsible for supervising operational activities and Cardiology staff. Participates in all functions necessary to maintain high standards of care in all areas of Cardiology. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
- Is responsible for the department’s operational excellence and ensures the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards.
- Is responsible for assigning employees work schedules and authorizing changes to schedules in accordance with the hospital and departmental policies.
- Initiates counseling and disciplinary action in a timely and supportive manner.
- Manages the workflow of the department to ensure the completion of work assignments, taking into consideration priority of work and skill of employees.
- Demonstrates fiscal accountability for departments operating budgets and resources. Demonstrates the ability to achieve outcomes within the allocated budgets.
- Has the ability to cope with and manage change as well as help others to the same.
- Collaborates with other departments to create systems and problem solve ongoing issues that impact departmental/organizational goals and patient care delivery.
- Demonstrates positive communication skills evidenced by effective working relationships and serves as a resource person to the staff with regards, to hospital regulations, personnel policies and procedures.
- Evaluates and maintains the quality of exams produced. Ensures proper performance of the exams using universal precautions techniques.
- Ensure proper orientation and training of new employees within the department.
- Ensures the equipment in the department is maintained in safe and proper working condition. Recommends supply procurement and equipment modifications
- Works with Physicians to set standards of quality with protocols, procedures and collaborates with other departments to provide quality patient care.
Required Job Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years’ experience.
- Graduate of a formal accredited Cardiology program.
- Must be familiar with all aspects of Cardiology including but limited to patient assessment, proper documentation, infection control, crisis intervention, self-development, and patient education.
- Must have good organizational skills, able to do priority management.
- Analytical, interpersonal necessary to perform Supervisory duties.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- CCT and/or RCVT.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift, push and/or pull 20-40 lbs.
- Ability to sit, bend, walk and have good eye, hand coordination for 80% of the workday.
