Pay Range: $38.02 - $55.18 per hour

Summary:
The Senior Business Analyst, University Applications, serves as the lead strategic liaison between university business stakeholders and the technical team. This role is responsible for supporting and advancing multiple enterprise university applications, including Student Information Systems (SIS), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Learning Management Systems (LMS), with a particular focus on Workday Student SIS.

The position leads business analysis efforts across academic, administrative, and student-facing functions of the university, partnering closely with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and support the successful delivery of scalable, integrated systems. The Senior Business Analyst provides high-level business analysis, supports application lifecycle activities, and ensures that university needs are effectively communicated to technical and applications teams.

In addition to performing advanced business analysis, the Senior Business Analyst leads, mentors, and supervises Business Analysts, establishes standards and best practices, and partners closely with the Director for Academic & Research Computing and the Manager for University Applications to ensure consistent, high-quality cross-functional outcomes. The role focuses on cross-functional strategy, governance alignment, and enterprise level process design, acting as a trusted advisor to both business leaders and D&IS Academic & Research Computing leadership.

Required Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 5 years experience in a Business Relations / Analyst, Functional Analyst, or business facing[LH1.1] advisory role supporting higher education, academic, or administrative environments.
• Experience working with ERP and/or Student Information Systems, preferably Workday Student.
• Strong ability to gather and translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholder groups.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• 15 years of experience working directly with business stakeholders across multiple functional areas in a university or academic setting.
• Experience with mentoring, coaching, and development of staff.
• Experience leading student lifecycle processes, such as:
o admissions and matriculation,
o registration and enrollment,
o curriculum and program management,
o student records and academic standing,
o advising or student services.
• Experience working within academic governance, policy-driven, or compliance-aware environments.
• Familiarity with institutional processes and controls relevant to higher education.
• Experience participating in change management, stakeholder communications, or training support initiatives.
• Experience operating in a matrixed academic or medical university environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership to University Applications Business Analysts and serves as lead liaison between university business areas and D&IS University Applications, facilitating clear communication of business needs and priorities while taking strategic direction from the Director and Manager for University Apps.
• Lead requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation efforts with stakeholders across academic and administrative units.
• Provide high-level business analysis to support initiatives involving ERP, SIS, CRM, LMS, and related enterprise platforms.
• Support and optimize Workday Student (SIS), including student lifecycle, academic records, advising, and related processes.
• Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications for application and technical teams.
• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, integration, data governance, and security standards.
• Support system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements through design, testing, deployment, and post-implementation review.
• Assist business partners in understanding system capabilities and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
• Support cross-application integration efforts to ensure data consistency and interoperability.
• Develop and maintain functional documentation, process flows, and training materials.
• Identify risks, dependencies, and impacts across systems and stakeholders and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of business analysis practices within Digital & Information Services.
• Support special projects and other duties as assigned.
