Rush Creek Growers is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic full-time Grower to join our team. Founded in 1995, we are located in the beautiful Rush River Valley of west-central Wisconsin and serve wholesale customers throughout Wisconsin and the Twin Cities.
We grow a wide variety of high-quality, healthy plants, with 95% of our production sold in advance through a pre-booking model. We are committed to growing the unusual as well as the reliable, and to doing so with integrity and curiosity.

Position Summary
The Greenhouse Grower is part of a collaborative team responsible for the care, growth, and presentation of greenhouse crops for wholesale sales. This role blends hands-on plant care with crop production planning and daily greenhouse operations, with the goal of delivering consistently beautiful, healthy plants to our long-standing customers.
The Grower works both independently and as part of a team, and should be comfortable receiving direction, communicating openly, and contributing to a positive work culture. We are looking for someone who is curious, reliable, and genuinely excited to learn.
There are ample opportunities to develop new skills and deepen existing ones in plant production, maintenance, and greenhouse management.
Primary Responsibilities
Plant Care & Production
- Water plants accurately based on crop needs, growth stage, and environmental conditions
- Monitor plant health and identify signs of stress, pests, or disease
- Transplanting, spacing, pruning, pinching, staking, and general crop maintenance
- Assist with seeding, propagation, and crop scheduling as assigned
- Manage irrigation, fertilization, and pest/disease control
- Maintain appropriate climate, humidity, and lighting conditions
- Keep accurate production and inventory loss records in Plantiful software
- Maintain current knowledge of growing techniques and technologies
- Collaborate with growers to plan and order new plant material annually
- Assist Head Grower and perform other duties as assigned
Teamwork & Training
- Assist in other departments during the off-season as needed
- Communicate plant or facility concerns clearly and promptly
- Work collaboratively during peak production periods
- Take direction well while managing independent work effectively
Greenhouse Operations
- Use and learn specialized tools and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of greenhouse spaces
- Assist with general greenhouse operations
- Skid steer operation preferred but not required
Qualifications / Experience
- 2–4 year degree in Horticulture or related field and 3–5 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Crop protection experience
- Experience with greenhouse, nursery, or agricultural work or strong interest in learning
- Strong attention to detail and ability to observe subtle changes in plant health
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable and consistent work habits
- Familiarity with irrigation or watering systems preferred
- Basic computer skills
- Interest in plant science, horticulture, or agriculture
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance
- Work in greenhouse conditions with high humidity and varying temperatures
- Work outdoors in heat, cold, humidity, and allergens
- Use hand and power tools
- Perform tasks at varying heights using ladders
