Firefighter Recruit
IMMEDIATELY HIRING! FIREFIGHTER-FIRE RECRUITS PERMANENT FULL-TIME Opportunity
Firefighter-EMT: $54,615 (full-time average annual compensation (hourly paid position)
Firefighter-Medic: $64,615 (full-time average annual compensation (hourly paid position)
*$10,000 sign on bonus for Firefighter Paramedic FT employees with a 2-year commitment* (see notation below)
Job Summary:
Firefighter Recruit is the entry-level position, which under close supervision, gains an understanding of lifesaving and firefighting methods through academic instructions and specialized training. Recruits may respond to fire alarms, emergency, and non-emergency calls to prevent or extinguish fires and to protect life and property including rescue and salvage operations. Incumbents are also responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and repairing fire department property and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the date of appointment.
- Driving record must be acceptable after review by national Risk Management.
- Valid national registry and/or Arizona state EMT or paramedic certification
- Valid candidate physical ability (CPAT) certification
- Successfully pass the national testing network (NTN) exam
Education Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED required.
Physical Requirements:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- While performing the duties of this job, fire department personnel are frequently required to walk, sit, climb, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, lift, talk, see, hear, feel, use clear speech and operate machinery. There is a need to reach and perform moderate (20-50 pounds) and infrequent heavy (50-200 pounds) lifting during the use of tools and equipment, and while assisting others while extinguishing fires or treating ill/injured persons.
Essential Functions:
Training
- Participates in all required training sessions, including, but not limited to, live fire drills, performance evaluation drills, ongoing skills maintenance. Company evolutions, and job performance requirements based on NFPA 1001 professional qualifications for Firefighter I & II.
Customer Service
- Work requires cooperative/supportive interaction with co-workers and supervisors.
- Work requires interaction with the public, customers, other public service members from local, state, and federal agencies.
Communications
- Portable radios are used as a means of communication.
- Must conduct all radio communications in a professional, respectful manner.
