Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruiting, training, organization and support of the team of volunteer drivers within the RCT service area, administering the volunteer driver program to ensure the provision of efficient, high quality, safe volunteer driver services to RCT passengers.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities reflect the essential functions of the position, but do not restrict the assignment of additional or different tasks; changes to the duties and responsibilities may be made at management’s discretion.   • Coordinate distribution, completion and receipt of all required forms and documentation for volunteer drivers, including background check consent and information forms; applications; driver license and vehicle insurance verification; and other documents as required for reports and files. Follow up with volunteers and prospective volunteers as required to obtain all documents. Assist in performing volunteer driver vehicle inspections.
  • Responsible for recruitment efforts for qualified volunteer drivers to maintain a sufficient number of available drivers at all times; coordinate with call center supervisor to project demand and proactively plan recruitment efforts; accordingly, assist in recruitment of drivers with specific qualifications for specialized transportation services, as needed.
  • Maintain complete files of volunteer drivers and all volunteer driver-involved incidents and accidents.
  • Responsible for the planning, organization and presentation of new volunteer driver orientation and initial trainings following application approval, completion of background checks and receipt of required documentation.
  • Must become PASS certified
  • Responsible for the planning, development, organization, and presentation of initial, periodic and ad-hoc trainings for all drivers, as required by contract and/or internal program standards, and as training needs are identified.
  • Address inaccurate volunteer driver manifests, following up with drivers as necessary to complete and/or correct trip data for volunteer drivers with paper manifests or portal drivers.
  • Responsible for volunteer relations: regularly communicate and check in with volunteers and respond in a timely manner to volunteer concerns and complaints.
  • Address and work to resolve client complaints related to volunteer drivers. 
  • Inform Executive Director of concerns and issues related to volunteer drivers, as necessary/appropriate.
  • Responsible for the evaluation of volunteer driver performance; advise management on such performance and of any required/recommended corrective action and/or severance of the volunteer/Agency relationship; and take appropriate action, as necessary.
  • Document, track and report data on volunteer drivers and services as required for grant and internal purposes.
  • Responsible for promoting the volunteer driver program in the community.
  • Promote a positive image of RCT and represent the Agency in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as required to meet department and agency needs.
  • Assist with Appropriations process.

Salary : $62,000
