Position Overview
The Single-Family Construction Manager oversees and manages day-to-day operations of residential new and remodel projects from start to finish. This role requires a strong foundation in construction methods, building codes, and hands-on problem solving. Key Responsibilities
- Project Management
- Work with RUPCO?s Development & Construction Team, architects, designers, engineers, and vendors during preconstruction design, budget and schedule development.
- Schedule all phases of projects, from permit issue through final inspection.
- Handle inspections, permits, and job site paperwork.
- Review project plans, specifications, and coordinate drawings to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
- Coordinate with RUPCO?s Construction Team regarding the detailed scopes of work, budgets, and project timelines.
- Construction Oversight
- Provide technical guidance and support to field crews and subcontractors.
- Solve field problems quickly with solid construction know-how.
- Ensure work meets all applicable building requirements & codes, safety standards, and RUPCO?s quality expectations.
- Conduct regular site visits to inspect progress and resolve field issues.
- Oversee material procurement, delivery scheduling, and jobsite logistics.
- Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor subcontractors.
- Coordinate across trades to maintain project flow and efficiency.
- Promote a safety-first culture on all job sites.
- Keep the jobsite safe, clean, and professional at all times.
- Project Communication
- Collaborate with project team including RUPCO?s Development & Construction Team, architects, designers, engineers, subcontractors and vendors to resolve design or construction challenges.
- Communicate clearly with the RUPCO Construction Team regarding project status, changes, and expectations.
- Budget & Materials
- Track job costs and forecast budget performance.
- Approve invoices and change orders within established limits.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering without compromising quality.
Qualifications
- Technical Skills:
- Familiar with building codes and inspection requirements.
- Strong communication, leadership, and time management skills.
- Expert knowledge of construction methods, building materials, and structural systems.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Basic technical computer software proficiency may include PDF software, UDA Construction Online and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comfortable using a cell phone, computer and tablet for photos, communication and project documentation.
- Other Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadlines.
- Hands-on approach to problem solving and decision making.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred, training available.
- Ability to work on active construction sites (standing, walking, lifting up to 20 lbs).
- Minimum of 7-10 years in residential construction with at least 3 years in supervisory or project management role.
- Must possess a valid driver?s license.
