What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Custodian- Part Time position at RUPCO INC?
POSITION SUMMARY
The Building Custodian, under general supervision of the Director of Facilities and direct supervision of the Maintenance supervisor, will perform a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the assigned RUPCO owned properties to include offices, common areas and surrounding outdoor areas.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cleaning and dusting of floors, windows, carpets, counters, window/door frames, baseboards, walls, Etc.
- Trash removal in all offices, conference rooms, breakrooms, employee kitchenette’s, bathrooms and common areas
- Maintain all entrances, hallways, stairs, elevators and common areas in assigned buildings
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms on a daily basis. Ensure that paper towels, soap, toilet paper and other necessary items remain stocked and/or available.
- Restock supplies in breakrooms, kitchens and common areas daily.
- Maintain cleanliness and neatness of custodial/maintenance closets at assigned properties
- Help to set up and break down for events or meetings
- Assist with cleaning for apartment turnovers as needed
- May be expected to make minor repairs as part of daily routine (check/change lightbulbs, tighten screws, fix vacuum cleaner belts, take down and clean light covers, plunge toilet, replace outlet plates, etc.…)
- Painting, landscaping, snow shoveling and other small maintenance projects may be required from time to time
- Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations as well as to follow all OSHA and RUPCO safety guidelines.
- Maintain a positive and professional relationship with tenants and staff
Health, Safety, & Compliance
- Maintain a work environment in a clean, organized, and safe manner. Conduct daily inspections of work areas to look for unsafe conditions
- Ensure all accidents are reported to supervisor and Human Resources timely and in an appropriate manner.
- Maintain practices to ensure Health and Safety compliance.
- Use all required safety devices and personal protective equipment.

- Maintain a clean and neat appearance consistent with agency standards
- Attend all required meetings and trainings
- Participate in training programs for professional growth as scheduled and approved
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to RUPCO Inc.’s applicable program rules, regulations and policies. Keep abreast of any changes or modifications to policies or regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary: $21.88 Hourly
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience:
- 6 months of experience is required.
Skills:
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
- Must be able to prioritize tasks
- Must have a high level of energy and able to multi-task when necessary
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Must be able to climb stairs and a ladder
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

- Must be organized and able to work independently without constant supervision
- Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have basic knowledge of cleaning products
- Must have basic knowledge of cleaning equipment
