Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Building Maintenance Engineer to ensure the optimal operation, safety, and reliability of our Condominium Association structures. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the structural features of the property . Your technical knowledge and problem-solving skills will be vital in diagnosing issues quickly and implementing effective solutions to keep our facility running smoothly. You will work with our maintenance supervisor to learn all aspects of the job. This is a part- time job with the possibility of becoming full-time in the future.
Duties
- Perform routine inspections and scheduled maintenance on equipment and interior building systems, minor electrical issues, and component repairs.
- Have knowledge of and basic repair skills for boiler systems.
- Conduct service tasks involving the use of ladders and other industrial equipment to access hard-to-reach areas safely.
- Capable of working with other team members to accomplish mutual goals.
- Collaborate with contractors on specialized projects involving HVAC, roofing, siding, drywall, or mechanical upgrades.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and ensure compliance with safety regulations related to fire safety and the Village of Palatine code.
Requirements
- Proven experience in building maintenance.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in maintaining structural components of residential buildings.
- Familiarity with construction tools and the safe operation of building equipment related to structural repairs.
- Electrical experience in working with low voltage systems; circuit breaker panels, outlets, switches, lighting, etc.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly in English.
- Additional qualifications include paint and drywall installation, mechanic experience, and analysis skills for troubleshooting complex issues.
