Overview:


The Director of Mitigation (DOM) is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the Mitigation Department across all locations. This role ensures operational efficiency, quality control, team development, and customer satisfaction. The Director of Mitigation collaborates with executive leadership, manages the mitigation team supervisors, and develops strategies to optimize service delivery, profitability, and compliance with industry regulations. This position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and works closely with other department leaders to streamline operations.



Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the Mitigation Department, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.

  • Directly manage the Mitigation Supervisors across all locations, providing guidance, support, and accountability.

  • Ensure proper staffing levels across all offices, collaborating with HR for recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of mitigation personnel.

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency, quality, and compliance.

  • Conduct regular department meetings to communicate company updates, reinforce goals, and address challenges.

  • Monitor mitigation project performance and adjust strategies to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer service.

  • Oversee the scheduling, dispatch, and workflow of mitigation teams to maximize productivity.

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure all jobs meet or exceed industry standards and company expectations.

  • Enforce company policies on proper documentation, job tracking, and use of industry software.

  • Ensure all mitigation equipment is properly maintained, tracked, and inventoried for optimal functionality.

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for customer concerns and complex mitigation issues.

  • Maintain relationships with insurance adjusters, vendors, and subcontractors to facilitate smooth claim processing and project execution.

  • Monitor customer feedback and adjust processes to improve satisfaction and retention.

  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with clients, adjusters, and internal teams regarding project progress.

  • Work closely with company leadership to develop and manage department budgets, job costing, and financial performance.

  • Monitor department profitability and implement strategies to improve efficiency and revenue generation.

  • Ensure proper invoicing procedures are followed, collaborating with Collections and Accounting teams as necessary.

  • Analyze key performance metrics and provide reports on department performance, revenue, and opportunities for growth.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for Mitigation Supervisors, Foremen, and Technicians to enhance skills and job performance.

  • Ensure all mitigation staff obtain and maintain required IICRC certifications and industry training.

  • Stay current with OSHA, EPA, IICRC, and other regulatory requirements, ensuring company compliance.

  • Promote and enforce safety policies, conducting periodic safety audits and corrective actions as needed.


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to travel between multiple locations as needed.

  • Capability to lift 75 lbs and perform physical labor when required.

  • Willingness to respond to after-hours/weekend emergencies as part of an on-call rotation.

  • Work conditions may involve exposure to water-damaged properties, mold, fire damage, and hazardous materials.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5 years of experience in disaster restoration, mitigation, or related fields.

  • Previous experience as a Mitigation Manager or Director in a restoration company.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

  • Proven experience managing teams and leading a multi-location department.

  • Expert-level knowledge of water mitigation, mold remediation, fire & smoke restoration, and emergency board-up services.

  • Competency with insurance claims process, estimating procedures, and restoration project management.

  • Active IICRC certifications, preferably WRT, ASD, FRST, AMRT consecutively.

  • Experience using Xactimate/XactAnalysis or similar estimating software.

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities with customers, insurance adjusters, and internal teams.
