Rule Engineering (Rule) is recruiting for an Associate level Environmental Scientist or Geologist in Lakewood, CO.
Founded in 1997 in Lakewood, Colorado, Rule is a small environmental consulting firm providing high-quality consulting services to industry. Rule has an assortment of industrial clients in refining, gas stations, chemical plants, and wastewater treatment facilities, among other industries. We seek cost effective and innovative solutions to client’s environmental compliance issues.
Job Description:
The primary role for this position is to provide environmental technical consulting services, including both field and office work. Rule is a small company environment that allows individuals to conduct a wide variety of tasks to promote professional growth.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Wastewater, surface water, soil, sediment, groundwater sampling and monitoring.
- Use of GIS, CAD, and surfer to prepare figures.
- Use Microsoft Excel to prepare tables.
- Use Microsoft Word to prepare reports.
- Review of sample analytical data against compliance standards.
- Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- The desire to work in a small engineering consulting company servicing industry.
- Ability to complete work safely and comply with health and safety requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or equivalent
- Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with a collaborative team and clients.
- 2-5 years of work experience.
- Basic understanding of GIS and CAD.
- Ability to independently calibrate and maintain sampling instrumentation.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel as needed, usually less than 20%.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must be able to pass random drug and alcohol tests, including marijuana.
- Sign confidentiality agreement and agree to be subject to and pass background checks.
- US citizenship or green card is required.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- A GIT with intentions to obtain a PG.
- Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Groundwater sampling experience.
- Knowledge of Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
- Local applicants (Rule Engineering does not provide relocation assistance).
Physical Requirements:
- The work will entail both indoor office work and outdoor field work, with the ability to consistently lift upwards of 60 pounds.
- Ability to work in hot/cold temperature extremes depending on the season.
