Position:
Speech/Language Pathologist
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
High degree of knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to K-12 Special Education and Education programs
Ability to work with changing priorities, regulations, and deadlines
Ability to analyze situations accurately and to recommend necessary action
Effective staff and public relations skills
Effective skills in planning and organization
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform essential job functions and job task requirements
Qualifications:
Valid license from New Mexico Public Education Department
Prefer Level III License
Prefer Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
Essential Function:
Direct Therapy(ies) as specified by student's IEP
Schedule and frequency of services will be arranged consistent with the student's IEP and RMSD calendars.
Educational evaluations as specified by LEA's administration following requests by Student Assistance Terms or specified by Developmental Services Program.
Consultation, training, and supervision as specified by RMSD
Participation in evaluation/diagnosis as requested by the appropriate administrative staff of RMSD and will include:
Instrument administration/interpretation
Comprehensive written report including evaluation/diagnosis summary, interpretation, parent input, collaboration with other service providers, and recommendations
All evaluations/Diagnosis for an Early Childhood will be in compliance with DOH Policy and Procedures and RMSD
Collaboration/coordination of all personnel providing services to those children determined in need of services by IEP committee
Conferencing with staff and parents of students receiving services
Participation in students' IEP committee meetings
Other services deemed necessary by the IEP committee or appropriate administrative staff of LEA
Therapist will determine the appropriate manner of providing such services so long as services are performed in accordance with the professional and ethical standards of the profession, are consistent with state and federal regulations, and meet the scheduling constraints of the participating school district
Maintain up to date accountability reporting system including case notes and hours of service
Therapist(s)/teletherapist(s) must be proficient in the usage of computer, telephonic, printing, scanning, and web-based communication technology in providing services.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to sit for prolonged periods while preparing lessons and completing documentation
Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach
Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
Ability to assist students with mobility and physical needs, as required
Ability to physically intervene consistent with CPI training when necessary to ensure student and staff safety
Adequate vision, hearing, and speaking ability to supervise students and communicate effectively
Ability to operate standard classroom technology and office equipment
