Counselor at Ruidoso High School
|
Qualifications:
|
- Valid New Mexico Public Education Department Counseling License, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Successful experience in high school counseling.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to secondary education.
- Familiarity with high school and Early College Academy program offerings.
- Understanding of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Demonstrated ability to work positively and cooperatively within a team environment.
- Strong reading, writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with administration, SAC, and counseling team to develop the master schedule.

Responsibilities:
|
- Coordinate and manage programs including, but not limited to:
- 504 Plans
- Student Assistance Team (SAT)
- Advanced Placement (AP)
- On-the-Job Training (OJT) Internships
- Graduation tracking and planning
- Provide academic guidance and degree planning for students in the Early College Academy.
- Assist students in developing Next Step Plans aligned with their individual post-secondary goals.
- Supervise all required state and national testing.
- Provide intervention counseling as needed for student well-being.
- Ensure mental and emotional safety for all high school students through effective counseling services.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including transcripts.
- Interpret transcripts for transfer students and assist in appropriate placement.
- Support class scheduling and advisement based on students' goals.
- Maintain and organize information on in-state and out-of-state college opportunities.
- Assist during lunch duty as assigned.
- Support club, sport, and activity sponsors with student information and event implementation.
- Work productively and collaboratively as a member of the school team.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Repetitive tasks such as keyboarding, writing, and reading are expected.
- Supervision duties may occur in various environments, including areas with noise, activity, or inclement weather.
- Regular movement including walking, standing, bending, and twisting of neck and trunk.
- Occasional travel in school-owned or leased vehicles may be required for student supervision and assistance.
