About RUI Restoration

RUI Restoration is an established disaster restoration and reconstruction company headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas. We specialize in fire, water, storm, and mold damage restoration, along with full-service residential and commercial reconstruction.

As we continue expanding our presence throughout Northwest Missouri, we are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead restoration and reconstruction operations from our St. Joseph satellite office.

This is an opportunity for a motivated, experienced restoration professional to take ownership of a growing market while benefiting from the resources, infrastructure, and support of an established restoration company.

Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing restoration and reconstruction projects from initial assessment through completion, ensuring quality workmanship, financial performance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate is a proven leader with extensive restoration and construction experience who can work independently, manage multiple projects, build strong relationships with customers and insurance professionals, and help grow our presence in the St. Joseph market.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring both technical construction expertise and strong business management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Operations

  • Manage residential and commercial restoration and reconstruction projects from initial inspection through final completion.
  • Oversee fire, water, storm, and other property damage restoration projects.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, material procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections to ensure quality, safety, and schedule compliance.
  • Identify and resolve project challenges proactively.
  • Ensure all projects comply with applicable building codes, safety standards, and company procedures.
  • Manage multiple active projects while maintaining communication with customers and internal leadership.

Estimating & Financial Management

  • Prepare, review, and manage detailed restoration and reconstruction estimates.
  • Utilize Xactimate to develop estimates, supplements, and change orders.
  • Review project budgets, labor costs, material costs, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Maintain accountability for project profitability and gross margin targets.
  • Negotiate subcontractor pricing and manage vendor relationships.
  • Track project financial performance and provide regular updates to company leadership.
  • Support timely invoicing, documentation, and collection of outstanding project balances.

Insurance Claims & Customer Relations

  • Work directly with property owners, insurance adjusters, agents, and property managers.
  • Understand insurance restoration procedures, including scope development, supplements, and claim documentation.
  • Communicate project expectations, schedules, and progress to customers.
  • Address customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including photos, change orders, approvals, and correspondence.

Satellite Office Leadership & Market Development

  • Serve as the primary operational representative for RUI Restoration in the St. Joseph market.
  • Take ownership of local project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners.
  • Collaborate with Kansas City leadership on staffing, project assignments, and operational needs.
  • Support business development efforts by building relationships with insurance professionals, property managers, and community partners.
  • Identify opportunities to grow restoration and reconstruction services throughout Northwest Missouri.
  • Help establish a culture of accountability, professionalism, and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in restoration, reconstruction, or construction project management.
  • Strong understanding of residential and commercial construction practices.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Xactimate estimating software.
  • Experience managing project budgets, job costing, and profitability.
  • Familiarity with insurance claims, adjuster communication, and restoration estimating.
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractors and field personnel.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel throughout St. Joseph and surrounding Northwest Missouri communities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of restoration and reconstruction industry experience.
  • Previous experience managing a branch, satellite office, or regional operation.
  • IICRC certifications.
  • Experience managing large-loss fire restoration projects.
  • Experience with commercial and multifamily property restoration.
  • Established relationships with subcontractors, insurance professionals, and property managers in Northwest Missouri.
  • Experience using project management software and CRM platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of construction estimating, scheduling, and subcontractor negotiations.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance, depending on compensation package.
  • Benefits package based on company eligibility and plan terms.
  • Support from an established Kansas City restoration operation.
  • Opportunity to lead and develop a growing satellite market.
  • Long-term career advancement opportunities.
  • A leadership role with significant independence and responsibility.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a leader, not simply someone who manages a construction schedule.

The right candidate takes ownership of their projects, understands the financial side of restoration, maintains high standards for quality and customer service, and is comfortable making decisions independently.

This individual should be equally capable of walking a fire-damaged property with an insurance adjuster, reviewing an Xactimate estimate, negotiating with subcontractors, managing a reconstruction schedule, and communicating with a property owner.

Most importantly, we want someone who is motivated to help build a successful long-term operation in St. Joseph while representing RUI Restoration's reputation for quality and professionalism.
