ABOUT US
At Ruff To Fluff Pet Salon, we have been grooming for families in our hometown of Delray Beach and beyond for over 9 years. We are the leading Premium-Quality Certified Pet Grooming and Non-Anesthetic Dental Cleaning Pet Salon in Delray Beach. We offer a charming, cage-free, one-on-one, paws-itive environment "where tails are wagging and pets are bragging."
Our salon is clean, busy, bright, and colorful, with steady schedules and a team that actually likes coming to work. We are excited to add experienced people to every part of our operation.
THE FOUR ROLES
1. Lead Groomer / Pet Stylist
This is the chair. You own the finish, the style, and the client relationship. And you are not doing prep work: our full-time bathers hand you dogs that are washed, dried, fluffed, nail trimmed, and fully prepped, ready for you to groom.
What you will do:
- Groom 7 to 9 dogs per day on a steady, well-managed schedule
- Brush, clip, and style pets according to breed-specific standards and customer preferences
- Accommodate special requests from pet owners and deliver a consistent premium finish
- Handle dematting, detangling, and challenging coats safely
- Identify health issues such as ear infections, skin conditions, or tooth decay, and inform pet owners
- Recommend suitable products and services to pet owners
- Set the standard for safety, quality, and pet handling on the grooming floor
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and in good working condition
What you need:
- 2 years grooming experience in a salon (corporate or private), or grooming school certification
- Some type of certification in pet grooming is required
- Own grooming tools, or the ability to acquire them prior to starting
- Strong knowledge of breeds, coat types, and grooming techniques
- Sound understanding of animal behavior and excellent client communication
2. Groomer Assistant
You work shoulder to shoulder with our stylists, keeping the grooming floor moving and stepping into hands-on grooming work as you go.
What you will do:
- Support the grooming team with prep, holds, finishing touches, and turnaround between dogs
- Bathe, dry, brush, and demat pets as the schedule requires
- Perform basic trims, sanitary cuts, paw pad work, face and feet cleanups under stylist direction
- Maintain grooming tools and stations, keeping blades, clippers, and equipment clean and in working order
- Ensure every pet is safe and secure throughout the grooming process
- Communicate clearly with groomers and the front desk on timing and pet needs
What you need:
- Prior experience in a grooming salon (corporate or private) as an assistant, bather, or apprentice
- Hands-on experience with clippers, shears, brushes, and dryers
- General knowledge of breeds, coat types, and grooming techniques
- Ability to treat all animals with compassion and stay calm with anxious or difficult pets
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy pets and equipment
3. Pet Bather
You set the whole day up for success. Our bathers deliver dogs to the grooming table washed, dried, fluffed, and fully prepped.
What you will do:
- Bathe, condition, dry, and fluff pets of all sizes and coat types
- Trim nails, clean ears, brush teeth, and complete standard prep work
- Brush out, deshed, and begin dematting and detangling as needed
- Deliver each dog to the groomer fully prepped and ready to style
- Handle every animal with love, patience, and compassion
- Keep the bathing suite, tubs, dryers, and work areas clean and sanitized
- Flag any health observations (skin conditions, ear infections, lumps, injuries) to the lead groomer
What you need:
- Prior professional pet bathing or grooming salon experience
- Sound understanding of animal behavior and safe handling
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy pets and equipment
- Working knowledge of different breeds and coat types
- Reliable, fast-moving, and a strong teammate
4. Front Receptionist / Salon Coordinator
You are the first face and voice of Ruff To Fluff Pet Salon! You answer the phone to book appointments when our customers call, you call customers when their dog is ready for pickup. You answer questions about our salon and basic pricing info and you manage the calendar appointments to tell customers what is available. You should be a friendly and organized person to keep the lobby clean, calm, and positive so our groomers can focus on the dogs while you manage customers up front.
What you will do:
- Greet clients and their pets, check pets in and out, and create a paws-itive first impression every time
- Answer phones, respond to texts and emails, and book, confirm, and reschedule appointments
- Manage the daily schedule and keep the grooming floor running on time
- Process payments, handle retail and product sales, and manage tip distribution accurately
- Capture pet notes, breed and coat details, and special client requests for the grooming team
- Keep the lobby and front desk spotless and welcoming
What you need:
- Prior receptionist, front desk, or customer service experience (salon, veterinary, spa, or retail preferred)
- Comfortable and confident around dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Strong phone presence, clear written communication, and genuine warmth with people
