Goals & Responsibilities
This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
- Support field inspections of sewer, water, and paving construction projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
- Use of measuring and GPS equipment to verify materials, line, and grade accuracy
- Maintain accurate records and update project documentation utilizing electronic reporting software
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and municipal staff to maintain project schedules
- Respond to public inquiries and assist in addressing construction-related questions or concerns.
- Work outdoors on real-world infrastructure projects that strengthen communities
- Communicate effectively and collaborate professionally with diverse project teams
- Apply academic knowledge to practical engineering challenges
- Assist with field and office tasks as needed
- Demonstrate strong work ethic, detail orientation, and a commitment to project success
Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:
- Actively pursuing a degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field
- Strong work initiative, attention to detail, and a desire to learn
- Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to communicate professionally to build positive relationships with project teams, contractors, clients and the public
- Basic math skills for accurate measurements and estimations
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Experience with construction, surveying, or CAD software is beneficial but not required
