TxDOT has issued a request for an Enterprise Solutions Architect whose work will involve translating business strategy into target-state architectures and detailed application, integration, data, security, infrastructure, and cloud solutions. Strong candidates will bring 8 years of enterprise or solution architecture experience with broad cloud/hybrid expertise and experience governing architecture across multiple technology domains.

 

Title -Enterprise Solutions Architect

Expected Duration: 12 months / 2080 hours (10/1/26 – 8/31/27)

Location: Onsite-Candidates must be local to the Austin area

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Design and govern enterprise architectures spanning applications, data, infrastructure, security, and cloud environments.
  • Translate business requirements into target-state architectures, roadmaps, standards, and detailed solution designs.
  • Develop solution scopes, risk/remediation plans, and technical deliverables while serving as a senior architecture SME. 

 

Minimum Candidate Characteristics:

  • 8 years in enterprise, solution, or domain architecture roles across application, data, infrastructure, and security domains.
  • 8 years working with cloud/hybrid environments including Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud Platform and modern architecture patterns.
  • 8 years translating business strategy and requirements into target-state roadmaps, standards, and detailed enterprise-aligned solutions. 

 

Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:

  • Experience with one or more Texas State Agencies
  • Experience performing current-state assessments, fit-gap analysis, and modernization planning for legacy and COTS/SaaS platforms.
  • 2 years of hands-on Generative AI experience with copilots, chatbots, knowledge assistants, and/or enterprise AI integrations.
  • Cloud, AI, or Enterprise Architecture certifications preferred.

 

 

Title -Enterprise Solutions Architect

Responsibilities:

Responsible for translating the client's business requirements into specific systems, applications or process designs for very large complex technical solutions. Analyzes customer service requirements and designs service solutions to meet those objectives. Serves as the primary expert to construct the specific solution, scope document, risk profile, and corresponding financials. Maintains and utilizes detailed industry and internal services knowledge in the construction of industry-leading services solutions, including expert working level knowledge of the processes, technologies, and people components involved in the services arena. Uses expertise to construct specific and detailed solutions that encompass process, technology, and staffing plans for customer sales opportunities. Constructs risk assessments and corresponding remediation plans relative to complex services proposals. Participates in the construction of detailed financial models that align with complex services proposals. Composes Statement of Work or other documents, using departmental automation tools as available, to craft detailed and accurate deliverables that specify processes, technology, staffing, and project management involved in proposed services solutions. As needed, provides a trusted expert advisor role as a Subject Matter Expert for technical services to both internal and external customers, ranging from formal advice to customer presentations. Follows all organizational Standard Operating Procedures relative to cost modeling, approvals and reviews, and all other associated workflow and deliverables.

 

  • Design and govern enterprise architectures spanning applications, data, infrastructure, and security domains.

  • Apply cloud and hybrid architecture expertise across Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and modern architectural patterns.
  • Develop solution scope, risk assessments, remediation plans, and Statements of Work for complex services proposals.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor and Subject Matter Expert to internal and external stakeholders while following established governance and approval processes.
