As a Co-op in our Electrical Department you will gain a basic understanding of the duties of a Project Manager / Estimator and observe the construction process in the field and office. You will have the opportunity to shadow a Project Manager during a project and participate in the following activities:
Safety
- GEM safety orientation
- Jobsite audits
- Customer / Site-specific training
Administrative Items
- Plotting drawings
- Drawing / document control
- As-built drawings
- RFI process
Proposal Phase
- Participate in develoment of proposals
- Learn to do a take-off
- Attend bid openings (public bid work)
Costing
- Review field labor
- Track delivered materials
Project Meetings
- Pre-planning
- Cost reviews
Subcontractor Management
- Labor management - goal setting and tracking
- Equipment tracking
- Material management
You will also gain an understanding of how the office, field, fab-shop and CAD departments team up to complete a successful project by spending time with a mentor as well as spending time in each department learning how it works.
Valid Driver's License required.
