Position Overview
Rudolf Steiner School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Track and Field Coach to lead our Middle School and High School athletes during the spring season. The coach will be responsible for developing athletes’ skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting sportsmanship in a supportive and inclusive environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about youth development and committed to creating a positive athletic experience for student-athletes of varying ability levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate practices for middle and high school athletes
- Teach fundamental track and field skills, including running mechanics, conditioning, relays, and field event basics as applicable
- Prepare athletes for interscholastic competition, including meet preparation and strategy
- Supervise and coach athletes during practices and meets
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and the Athletic Department
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants
- Assist with equipment management and general program organization
Practice & Meet Schedule
- Practices: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
- Location: Central Park Great Lawn
- Meets: Typically held on weekdays in the late afternoon
- Season Duration: March 2 through May 8, 2026
Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience in track and field or related sport preferred
- Experience working with middle and/or high school students strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to motivate and support student-athletes of all skill levels
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive team culture
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Compensation
- $3,000 stipend for the full season
- Payment issued according to school payroll schedule
