What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Pedagogical Coordinator position at Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor?
Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor is seeking a High School Pedagogical Coordinator for the 2023-2024 School Year. Our school is looking for someone who values authentic relationships, collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion work. This position is a full-time position serving students and faculty in our High School. We are seeking someone who is passionate about Waldorf Education and working with adolescents.
A Waldorf High School education is shaped to provide all students with a deep exploration of the natural and human worlds. Students explore the sciences, history, literature, mathematics and the humanities through academic classes and also participate daily in art classes, music lessons and movement. Students are encouraged to participate in the wide range of sports, clubs, and activities offered by the school. The education was also founded on the principle that faculty should play an active role in governance and decision making, as they are the ones who are serving the community. To find out more about this unique approach, visit the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America.
We support our students and teachers through a strong curriculum, schedules, festivals, and school-wide collaboration. We offer both Spanish and German from first to twelfth grade, a growing movement program, strong fine and practical arts, choral and instrumental music. We celebrate a wide mix of traditional festivals from around the world. The faculty meets weekly to study various topics. We have a strong and active faculty, and over the past year we have worked with Alma Partners to develop our work in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Pedagogical Coordinator teaches classes within their discipline and may also work with supporting clubs and trips as a full-time faculty member would. Their administrative duties include supporting teachers in implementing the pedagogical aims of the school. This may include counseling on approaches to teaching, handling student issues, and questions around what to bring into the curriculum. The Pedagogical Coordinator works to support students, ensuring that students are meeting expectations and moving productively towards graduation. They also actively support the festivals and events, school trips, and extra curriculars to ensure that the pedagogical aim of these activities is being met. As a member of the High School Carrying Group they work with the rest of the Carrying Groups to make sure all daily needs of the school are being held.
