Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks to deliver and pickup LTL freight primarily with 53 foot dry vans and twin screw tractors across designated local routes.
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport.
- Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized delivery routes and ensure punctual arrivals at each destination.
- Transport various types of cargo including hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and hazardous materials regulations.
- Deliver freight to customers efficiently while providing excellent customer service; obtain signatures or electronic proof of delivery as required.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, report any issues promptly, and maintain compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with DOT regulations.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with clean driving record with a HAZ MAT Endorsement
- Proven experience in delivery driving with knowledge of route driving and logistics cargo handling.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient local deliveries.
- Ability to manually handle freight including loading/unloading heavy or hazardous goods safely and securely.
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck driving.
- Experience operating manual transmission trucks is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures and truck loading equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
