The Opportunity

This multifaceted role emphasizes content creation with a strong focus on producing high-performing photo and video assets for social media and digital advertising. The Social Media Specialist will own and lead the brand’s social media presence, including strategy, content development, publishing, and day-to-day platform management across all channels. This role is responsible for creating visually compelling, performance-driven content that drives engagement, brand growth, and guest acquisition across digital channels. In addition to leading social media efforts, this position will also manage and optimize the brand’s presence across key online platforms, including Google Business Profiles, Apple Maps, and Yelp.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across the brand’s national Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok channels to ensure consistent, on-brand messaging.
  • Own the planning, creation, and management of monthly content calendars, incorporating high-quality photo, video, graphics, and copy tailored for each platform.
  • Capture and produce engaging, on-brand content (photo and video) across restaurant locations throughout the Greater New Orleans area, highlighting menu items, cocktails, guest experience, and seasonal promotions.
  • Create visually compelling, performance-driven content for both organic social channels and paid digital advertising.
  • Manage day-to-day social media operations, including scheduling posts, publishing content, and maintaining a consistent and active presence across all platforms.
  • Day-to-day community management to include responding to inquiries, assisting in reservations, and thoughtfully responding to emails, comments and direct messages.
  • Cultivate and grow online communities by actively engaging with followers through comments, direct messages, and other interactions.
  • Stay current with social media trends, platform updates, and emerging content formats, applying insights to improve content performance and relevance.
  • Analyze engagement and performance metrics to evaluate content effectiveness and inform ongoing strategy and creative optimization.
  • Deliver monthly performance reports with clear insights on top-performing content, audience growth, engagement trends, and recommendations for future content.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to concept and develop compelling campaigns and content that support broader marketing initiatives.
  • Assist in planning and executing photoshoots throughout the year, working with external partners to capture high-quality brand assets.
  • Assist in optimizing the brand’s presence across key online platforms, including Google Business Profiles, Apple Maps, and Yelp, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely updates.
  • Monitor and respond to guest reviews across all major platforms, supporting brand reputation and guest engagement.
  • Help evolve Ruby’s voice across platforms, creating playful, engaging, and brand-aligned copy for digital and in-store use.
  • Partner with freelance designers, photographers, and videographers to execute larger-scale content and campaign needs.
  • Maintain and organize digital asset libraries, ensuring content is easily accessible and properly archived.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in social media marketing and content creation
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and social media management/scheduling platforms
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing social media campaigns, with the ability to provide a portfolio of content (photo, video, and campaigns) personally created
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics, with the ability to translate insights into actionable improvements
  • Working knowledge of digital marketing strategies, including organic and paid social content development
  • Experience capturing and editing photo and video content for social media
  • Experience in restaurant, hospitality, or lifestyle brands preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required, with the ability to travel to restaurant locations throughout the Greater New Orleans area
  • Position is based at the home office in New Orleans, LA, with regular local travel required
