Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Team Lead Cook to join our team at a vibrant, new neighborhood restaurant in Denver. This role is ideal for an experienced culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality dishes. The Lead Cook will oversee kitchen operations, assist in menu development and execution, and ensure consistency in food preparation and presentation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the food industry, particularly in breakfast and food preparation. As a Team Lead Cook, you will play a crucial role in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring food safety standards are met, and delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests. Your expertise in culinary techniques, recipes, and food handling will help guide the kitchen staff in producing high-quality meals.


Duties:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Train new kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, food handling, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service during meal periods.
  • Maintain high standards of quality control throughout the cooking process.


Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Quality Control: 

Prepare and cook menu items with precision, maintaining consistency in flavor and presentation.

Monitor food quality to ensure all dishes meet company and customer expectations.

Collaborate with the kitchen team and management to develop and refine recipes.

Kitchen Leadership & Supervision:

Oversee and support kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to restaurant standards.

Assign prep and cooking tasks based on business demand.

Train and mentor kitchen team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Inventory & Cost Control:

Assist in inventory management, ordering, and proper food storage procedures.

Minimize food waste while maintaining cost efficiency.

Ensure proper portioning and ingredient utilization to control food costs.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Ensure compliance with health department regulations and company policies.

Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, reporting any maintenance needs.

Communication & Collaboration:

Work closely with the management team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Adapt to menu updates, special requests, and dietary modifications.

Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure a seamless guest experience.

Other responsibilities as required by the restaurant concept.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen, preferably in a breakfast or casual dining setting.

Culinary Skills: Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food handling and kitchen equipment use.

Leadership Ability: Experience leading a kitchen team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Time Management: Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.

Health & Safety Knowledge: Understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen sanitation practices.

Flexibility: Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.


Culinary degree preferred but not required
