ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a Head of Clinical Data Partnerships to leads operations and strategy for acquiring, managing, and growing relationships with hospitals, pathology labs, biopharma companies, and data vendors. This individual will be responsible for securing high-quality datasets, navigating complex legal/regulatory requirements, and ensuring that partnerships align with the company’s product and research goals. Ability to work in person at our San Carlos, CA office is preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and execute the company’s data acquisition and partnership strategy with hospitals, labs, vendors, and consortia
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clinical partners, biopharma collaborators, and data providers
- Lead negotiations on data use agreements (DUAs), licensing, and collaborations, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and other regulatory frameworks
- Partner with legal, clinical, product, and ML teams to align data partnerships with research and development needs
- Ensure acquired datasets meet the quality, diversity, and scale required for robust AI model development
- Represent the company at industry conferences, consortia, and partner meetings to strengthen visibility and foster new and existing partnerships
- Develop scalable processes for onboarding new datasets and partners efficiently
- Identify new opportunities for collaboration across hospitals, academic centers, and vendors
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field (advanced degree a plus)
- 3 years of experience in data partnerships, business development, or clinical partnerships, ideally in healthcare, life sciences, or AI
- Demonstrated success negotiating complex data use agreements with hospitals, labs, or data vendors
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance and regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, IRB processes)
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Track record of building and managing data or clinical partnerships
- Strong analytical skills and creative mindset
- Works well in a small, agile team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Current, extensive network within hospitals, pathology labs, or clinical data vendors
- Experience working in digital pathology, medical imaging, or precision medicine
- Understanding of data infrastructure, interoperability, and dataset curation for ML/AI applications
- Experience working in a startup or high-growth company environment
