Job Description: Tile Die Press Operator
Reports To: Production Lead

Position Summary
The Tile Die Press Operator is responsible for operating the tile die press to accurately stamp rubber tiles to specification, loading the press with peeled master rolls, and palletizing finished product for customer orders and inventory. This role ensures proper material flow, product quality, dimensional accuracy, and safe, efficient production while maintaining ownership of the press area.
Key Responsibilities
Material Handling & Press Loading
- Call for and verify correct master rolls based on production schedule.
- Confirm master rolls are peeled to required thickness for the order or inventory specification.
- Safely load master rolls into the tile die press.
- Ensure proper alignment and positioning before cycling the press.
- Monitor material feed and adjust as necessary to prevent waste or defects.
- Communicate any material thickness inconsistencies to supervisor.
Press Operation
- Set up and operate tile die press according to production schedule.
- Verify correct die is installed and aligned prior to production.
- Perform safe and efficient die changeouts.
- Monitor press performance during operation.
- Adjust settings as needed to maintain tile quality and dimensional tolerances.
- Inspect die boards at start of shift and during changeovers.
Quality Control
- Inspect tiles for:
- Correct dimensions (length and width within tolerance)
- Acceptable surface finish (no deep or repeating knife marks)
- Clean, square cuts
- Remove and separate blemished tiles per quality standards.
- Communicate recurring defects or thickness issues to supervisor.
- Support hourly quality audits conducted by production lead.
- Document quality checks on the quality assurance checklist.
Palletizing & Inventory Support
- Stack and palletize tiles per order specifications.
- Verify accurate counts before pallet completion.
- Label pallets clearly for customer orders or inventory.
- Stage finished pallets in designated areas.
- Maintain proper inventory rotation practices.
Equipment Care & Troubleshooting
- Perform daily equipment checks.
- Conduct minor mechanical adjustments as trained.
- Troubleshoot basic operational issues.
- Escalate major mechanical issues to maintenance.
- Maintain press cleanliness and organization.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Maintain clean and organized press area.
- Keep material staging areas safe and accessible.
- Report safety hazards immediately.
Performance Expectations
- Meet daily production targets.
- Maintain scrap within acceptable limits.
- Ensure consistent tile thickness and dimensional accuracy.
- Maintain safe and organized workspace.
- Demonstrate ownership of material flow, machine performance, and finished product quality.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
