What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Engineer position at RTR Energy Solutions, Inc.?
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost responsibilities within the utility, oil & gas, or heavy construction sectors. As a Cost Engineer/Analyst, you will play a crucial role in overseeing project forecasts, budgets, accruals, and resources to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project cost on day-to-day basis, including accrual-based accounting tasks.
- Forecasting:
- Generate initial project forecast and input into client’s cost management software.
- Update project forecasts through the life cycle - this includes updating forecasts for engineering, construction, and procurement activities and resources.
- Contract management:
- Accept, review, and process invoices and change orders.
- Ensure project costs for contracted resources are in accordance with PO terms.
- Prepare monthly accruals for work performed by vendors.
- Budgeting:
- Prepare the initial project budget, based on initial forecast.
- Identify and manage forecast to budget variances throughout the project life cycle.
- Submit variances to proper governance channels for change management and change approval. (i.e. assist the PM in asking for additional funds or giving back unrequired funding).
Qualifications:
- 3 years’ experience in construction project cost control.
- Utility experience preferred, construction industry experience a must.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of accruals-based accounting operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets and forecasts.
- Demonstrated experience in project cost governance.
- Must be a “self-starter” and assertive, willing to seek information needed and/or ask for help to ensure the requirements of the job are met.
Salary : $45 - $60
