This position is responsible for the safe transportation of RTP materials, products, and other general commodities as directed by RTP Transportation Department. The Regional Truck Driver should anticipate 80% to be local duties and 20% of duties to be over the road regional miles.

1st Shift Local/Shuttle Truck Driver-CDL Required
This position is responsible for the safe transportation of RTP materials, products, and other general commodities as directed by RTP Transportation Department. The Regional Truck Driver should anticipate 80% to be local duties and 20% of duties to be over the road regional miles.
Work Schedule
1st Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM Monday - Friday
Responsibilities
- Primarily day cab duties, including occasional 10-rest break
- Receive and follow dispatch orders/instructions.
- Conduct pre and post trip inspection of vehicle at specified intervals.
- Hook up and drop trailers as directed by dispatch.
- Operate forklift and perform loading and unloading as needed/required.
- Support production from off-site warehouse in any way that is needed.
- Drive vehicle on specified route observing Department of Transportation, State, Federal and RTP Company guidelines safe driving rules and regulations.
- Pick up and deliver dry van (skid) products, pneumatic bulk products.
- Unloading/loading of pneumatic trailers with use of PTO Blower.
- Communicate with Customer, Maintenance, Safety, and Dispatch on directions, breakdowns, accidents, product damage, emergencies, and other issues.
- Fuel vehicle at approved locations.
- Prepare all trip records and DOT logs daily. Use ELD’s (electronic log device) as required.
- Participate in Company meetings and quality improvement activities
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, be familiar with not only traffic laws but rules regarding how often they are required to rest, maximum miles, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Must be dependable and have excellent attendance
- Must have ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must have ability to make decisions within the scope of the job responsibilities
- Must have a positive attitude
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as needed
- Must be willing and able to work in temperature extremes – hot and cold
- Must be able to pass a forklift test
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test
- Attendance is an essential function of the position
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Must have a valid and unrestricted Class A CDL driver’s license
- Must have and maintain a satisfactory (as rated by DOT) driving record
- Preferred high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a strong work ethic
- Must have a strong safety awareness
- Preferred forklift experience
- 2 years' truck driving experience

- Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, hot and cold weather conditions.
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Talk and hear to coordinate day-to-day phone and in person transactions
- Communicates via phone, email, in person
- Exposed to hazardous materials as defined by OSHA Hazard Communication standard.
- Standard office and truck environment. The noise level is usually low, due to office equipment and roadway.
