This position is responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of the Light Rail Transportation (LRT) network infrastructure and troubleshooting problems monitoring and maintaining the fare collection system, CCTV, Telecom, corporate traffic, and network traffic. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of the RTD Drug and Alcohol Policy.

This position is responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of the Light Rail Transportation (LRT) network infrastructure and troubleshooting problems monitoring and maintaining the fare collection system, CCTV, Telecom, corporate traffic, and network traffic. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinates the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) network requirements for Local Area Networks (LAN), SONET TDM network, Wide Area Networks (WAN) and the Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN).
- Monitors performance and availability of network systems.
- Installs, configures, maintains and repairs network router/switch hardware/software, cable plants, and workstations.
- Maintains accurate physical records of LRT cabling plants and network hardware.
- Coordinates appropriate corrective actions required for system diagnostic and alarm messages and indicators.
- Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Management Information Systems and/or recognized network certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP.
- Must have a valid Colorado driver license or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire. No DUI, DWI or reckless driving in the past 5 years.
- A minimum of five years of experience in computer networking.
- A minimum of one year of experience working with medium to advanced network data communications, and current hardware/software architecture.
- A minimum of one year experience working with client/server functions and characteristics and current hardware/software architecture, client/server software packages, relational databases and 24/7/365 up-time applications.
- Proficiency in testing procedures and safe practices to minimize data loss and ensure high data integrity.
- Proficiency in IP address schema, permissions, policies and emerging technologies.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to use sound judgment.
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
- Ability to respond in person for on-call repairs within one hour travel distance of main office.
- Ability to be on call from Wednesday to the following Wednesday of a given week, approximately once per month as part of a rotation assignment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Railroad Worker Protection Certification.
- An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

- The work environment is a typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues and working outside in various weather conditions. The work environment is external to the office (4 seasons) 75% of the time.
