Position Status: Full-Time
Location: Washington, D.C.
Travel Requirement: Up to 30% domestic and international travel
Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Standards and Technologies, the duties to be performed and general expectations of the Senior Program Director are described below.
General hours for this position are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, in the RTCA, Inc. office in Washington D.C.
Hours may vary in accordance with meeting schedules and attendance could be either in person or via hybrid connection. Travel, including international travel to destinations in North America and Europe, may be up to 30% of your scheduled work.
The role requires deep aviation industry knowledge, exceptional communication and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously within a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

· Lead assigned Special Committees in accordance with RTCA Special Committee Guidance and associated Work Instructions
· Schedule and attend meetings of Special Committee working sessions and plenary sessions of assigned Special Committees
· Provide hybrid/virtual meeting support for assigned Special Committees
· Support RTCA member engagement opportunities in collaboration with the marketing and communication team
· Attend industry conferences/forums and represent organizational interests via panel discussions, and presentations
· Represent RTCA on ICAO panels and working meetings on the status and scope of RTCA Activities
· Prepare RTCA documents for publication
· Serve as a primary POC for information on Special Committee activities to RTCA members and other industry stakeholders
· Attend and support the quarterly Program Management Committee meetings
· Work in collaboration with the membership team to grow membership
· Support the establishment of new RTCA Special Committees and technical products in response to member and aviation industry needs
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to aviation
· 10 or more years of experience in the aviation industry
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including exceptional expertise in Microsoft Word
· Demonstrated ability to exercise the highest level of professionalism, maturity, discretion, and sound judgment, particularly when handling sensitive and confidential information.
· Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong leadership, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a small-team environment where accountability, trust, adaptability, and shared support are essential.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior-level industry stakeholders and leadership.
· Experience in one or more of the following areas:
o Standards Development
o Aviation Operations
o Engineering Design and Development for Aviation
o Engineering Production for Aviation
o International Aviation Regulators
Work Environment:
· The office maintains a business attire environment
· Business hours of RTCA are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm
· Remote work in the D.C. metro area is offered as coordinated with and approved by the Senior Director, Standards and Technologies
· Travel is required for up to 30% of your work time
Physical Demands:
· The person in this position must be able to work at a computer for up to 75% of the workday.
· The individual in this position will regularly present to both small and large groups in virtual, hybrid, and in-person meeting environments.
· The individual in this position must be able to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
Compensation and Benefits:
· The expected pay range for this role is $160,000 - $180,000 per year and will be commensurate with factors such as relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
