IEP Building Coordinator – Elementary Level
Special Services Department
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic IEP Building Coordinator to join our elementary Special Services team. This leadership role works in close collaboration with school administrators, educators, and support staff to ensure high-quality, compliant, and inclusive special education services at the building level.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluate special education staff.
Serve as the LEA (Local Education Agency) representative in IEP and related meetings.
Facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring compliance and timely documentation.
Oversee specialized programs and student placements.
Review IEPs for accuracy and compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Lead weekly professional learning and collaboration sessions.
Promote inclusive practices across Special Education, Gifted & Talented, Section 504, and Multilingual Learner services.
Build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
Address concerns proactively to support student success.
Qualifications:
Passionate about student-centered, high-performing educational environments.
In-depth knowledge of:
Special Education law and best practices
Gifted & Talented programming
Section 504 regulations
Multilingual learner education
MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports)
Familiar with IEP systems and district special education policies.
Holds valid Maine Special Education Administrator Certification (282 and 035 or 030)

A Master’s degree (or in progress) in Special Education or Educational Administration.
Minimum of 3 years of Special Education teaching experience with demonstrated leadership.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to collaboration and confidentiality.
Technologically proficient and dedicated to ongoing professional growth.
