What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guidance counselor/social worker position at RSU 53/MSAD 53?
MSAD #53, Warsaw Middle School, is looking to find a dynamic individual to work as a school counselor or social worker for grades 5-8 for the 2025-2026 school year. The school counselor will work closely with students, families, teachers, and staff to foster a positive school climate and culture, help oversee implementation of Second Step strategies, and provide individual and group support, as well as crisis management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support and help oversee Second Step social-emotional lessons, language, and strategies with students and staff.
• Provide social-emotional support and build strategies through individual and small group counseling and check-ins.
• Implement positive behavior supports and promote a positive school climate.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student success.
• Assist students with building advocacy, conflict resolution and coping strategies.
• Crisis assessment and management.
• Support attendance initiatives and student engagement efforts.
• Partner with families and community organizations to meet student needs.
State of Maine Guidance Counselor Certification (075), Social Worker (LCSW, LMSW-cc, LSW, Or LSX licensure) preferred. Additional licenses will be considered. Fingerprinting through the Maine Department of Education is required.
