SPECIAL EDUCATION TRANSPORTATION:
BUS MONITOR & SUBSTITUTE BUS MONITORS
Job Goal:
To assist the bus driver in providing safe transportation for students by maintaining order on a school
bus or van by directly supporting individual children as needed.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Assists the driver in maintaining appropriate student conduct on the bus or van 2. Assists young
or disabled students with getting on and off the bus or van; operates wheelchair lift and strapping
and securing wheelchair in the bus; assist with seat belts and harnesses where appropriate
3. Assures that students get on and off the bus or van in an orderly fashion 4. Assists in
maintaining cleanliness of the interior of the vehicle
5. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities that may be assigned
